Candidacy Portfolio Artifacts

The Candidacy portfolio is a tool used to showcase the knowledge and expertise of novice
counselor educators who are entering the counseling profession by demonstrating their
ability to demonstrate competence, discuss their professional growth, reflect on their
counseling journey, and integrate knowledge and practice into the program. With that, my
candidacy portfolio will highlight my expertise and knowledge in the counselor educator
profession.
My candidacy portfolio highlights my knowledge and expertise as a counselor educator and
supervisor (CES). It demonstrates my ability to counsel, teach, lead, research, and
problem-solve. My candidacy portfolio shows through my artifact examples, conferences,
and publications. My work aligns with my program goals at CES, demonstrating personal
and professional growth, mentorship, research, and advocacy.

Leadership & Advocacy

My personal philosophy when discussing leadership is the “I do, we do, you do” strategy. The “I Do” strategy (An Instructional  strategy created by Doug Fisher and Nancy Frey, 2007) it is also known as the Gradual Release or The Gradual Release Responsibility created by Pearson and Gullaghan) to show graduate-level students the power of observation.

Research & Scholarship

Research and Scholarship illustrate my knowledge and expertise in how to inquire and explore social issues and find ways to make contributions to social challenges and gaps through investigation. Sharing these findings through publications, presentations, and other platforms.
