Reflection Questions for Supervision:
1. Reflect on developing leadership-level knowledge, skills, and practices in this competency. What has been especially impactful/meaningful/important to you personally and professionally?
Reflecting on my experience as a supervision intern I learned a great deal about the role CES plays in the development of Counselors in training and developing counselors students. What impacted me the most was the many roles I had to play as a professor, advocate, consultant, and mentor. My experience serving in each role taught me what it is like to be a true CES Educator. There is so much more to being a supervisor than I realized. It is a role that encompasses training students, and teaching basic and advanced skills, feedback, observations, and grading. I enjoyed learning what CES does in addition to teaching and supervising. As I develop my role I have the skills and tools I need to move forward as a supervisor.

2. Describe an area of strength that you have developed while in the program in this area of competence. What is one way you plan to utilize this strength in your vocation?
An area of strength is my ability to discern and care for others. I can recognize how important it is to read others without judgment and I allow students, CIT, and novice counselors to develop their skills by modeling, observing, and releasing. Meaning, I model how to do a certain counseling task, I allow them the opportunity to work alongside me to practice and I release them to practice the skills while I observe.

3. Describe an area of challenge/growth opportunity in this area of competence. What is your plan to develop excellence in this area?
As I build and grow as a CES supervisor and educator, I learn from student
feedback. The areas that were highlighted in the feedback were students wanted to
Challenged more and learned how to develop, they felt I needed to show more
Confidence in my knowledge and ability. Confidence and developing their ability to
Being challenged will help me to develop my skills based on what they observed. The feedback was great and I am creating ways to implement what I learned from students by focusing on those key areas.

4. Reflect on how faith in Christ relates to this competency.
As a Christian, I like to pattern my supervision and leadership based on the book of Joshua. Joshua was Godfearing, he was a military captain a supervisor, and a leader. He learned by example (Moses), and when Moses descended into heaven, Joshua was appointed to take his place. Much like Moses and Joshua I learn from godly counselors and I seek mentors that I can learn from as I develop as a CES. I pray, I seek, and I hear. I walk by faith and I use what God has shown me to develop my supervision and leadership skills as a CES.
